Relay For Life KL 2008

For quite some time ago, I went to an event called Relay For Life, Kuala Lumpur 2008.

What is Relay For Life?

Relay For Life is an overnight team event in a carnival-like atmosphere to raise funds for The National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NSCM). Participants have lots of fun as they challenge themselves

Relay For Life has become the world's largest fund raiser, with events held in 23 countries worldwide, including 4000 events in America where it all began in 1985.

Funds raised will be used to increase knowledge about cancer, - its causes, prevention and early detection as well as research for more effective treatment and supportive care for Malaysian impacted by cancer.

The event was held The National Stadium Bukit Jalil.
Well, not exactly In the stadium but somewhere near the national stadium.
It was held at The Majlis Sukan Negara(MSN) Stadium.
I went there with a couple of friends and met some other friends that I knew there.
Lol. I didn't they they're coming. XD
Ofcourse I met new people and made new friends there. XD

On the other hand, it was also The Anti-Tobacco Day.
Yet, I saw oneeee particular guy puffing away. =.="
How contradicting is that.

I hate people who smoke. Being near them already drives me away.
So, whenever I pass by/near people who some = run away. XD

What I did there?
Obviously, I went there for the walk-marathon.
Besides meeting people, eating, laughing, chit-chatting etc.
I started off with a fast-walk for 4 laps as my warm up.
slow jogged for 4 laps.
break.
a real jog for 5 laps.
break
enjoyed myself with all the performances and chi-chatting, laughing
continued for another 6 laps of fast-walk.
Raced with a few people. XD

Met more new people as time flies

Shirley, Kenneth, Jay, Sally, Denise(another denise), Gabriella, Calvin, Muthalib, Justin, Xue Yi, uhhhh..... I can't remember the rest of them. >.<>
As you continue reading, you might wonder why I took these pictures of paper bags with messages on it.

Well, I lost my beloved grandmother to breast/lung cancer 4 years ago.
Seeing her saying goodbye was really heart breaking.
Especially when I stood right beside her as she took her last breath.
I cried really bad before going to sleep.
I remember crying on the phone too.
It was hard for all of us.
She was very healthy.
That memory is still so fresh in my mind.
I'll always miss her. All of us do. Especially my mum.
The following year, I lost my uncle to lung cancer too.
Well, this is obviously because of his smoking habits.

anyway,

I find this somehow odd. Don't you?

Yeap, there have like millions of it.

and all of them are arranged around the side of the running track with candles in it.

Sleepyheads

Well, this picture wasn't taken during th event but, I got that t-shirt from the event.

Voila! My running shoes. I think its more of a training shoes.
Extremely light
Very comfortable and flexible
Sometimes, I feel that I'm walking/running barefooted.
well, it cost me bomb too.

Nike Free 7.0

Wheee~! I'll be back next year!
Anyone wanna join me?

It was a great experience. I met not only new friends but also cancer-survivors. They're really nice people. =)
Well, this event did not get much attention from the media.
But whatever it is, the main purpose/objective of this event was successfully accomplished.

Therefore, don't smoke or be around people who smoke.
it will kill you. >.<>
